Course Roadmap
Rhythm Guitar
Guitar Chord Bootcamp: Open Chords teaches you the most important ‘open guitar chords’: chords that are relatively easy to play and sound great. You’ll learn tricks to remembering them all and put in some solid practice switching between them by playing a whole bunch of songs.
Next, you choose between two directions. If you’ve mastered barre chords, you can expand your chord library even more with ‘Guitar Chord Bootcamp: Barre and Beyond’, which teaches you to play chords all over the neck.
You can also learn about the most important strumming patterns in ‘Strumming Skills Bootcamp’. It’ll teach you the proper struming technique that makes strumming feel easy and natural. Of course, you’ll be playing a lot of songs as well in order to practice everything you’re learning. Cool thing: if you have a capo, you can play all of these songs with just open chords.
Ear Training
All the greatest musicians in the world trained their ears the most by figuring out music by ear. All these courses are focused on exactly that. ‘Make Your Ears Awesome Kick-Starter’ is focused on the skill of hearing a note and finding it on the fretboard. The course has note-by-note instructions to keep things as simple as possible. Next, you can either practice figuring out melodies by ear (the left track) or chord progressions (the track on the right). I’d recommend starting with melodies, as chord progressions can be a bit more challenging.
Fretboard and Music Theory
For Music Theory to make sense, it’s really important that you can connect it to things you’ve already seen, heard or used. That’s why it’s super useful to start with Guitar Chord Bootcamp: Open Chords, which will teach you a bunch of different chord types, such as dominant, major seven and minor seven.
That’s the perfect preparation for Music Theory from Scratch, which builds your music theory knowledge from the ground up. Guitar Chord Bootcamp: Barre and Beyond will teach you some more exotic chord types too, like diminished and half-diminished and how to play them all over the neck.
