Guitar Lessons in Rotterdam
So, you’re looking for guitar lessons! The question you’re probably asking yourself is: how can I find a teacher that’s right for me?
There are many guitar teachers in Rotterdam, all with their own approach. So here are a couple of things that are good to know about how I teach guitar lessons:
- I grew up abroad and learnt to speak English at an early age, so I’m very comfortable with the language. So if you’re looking for lessons in English, you’re more than welcome.
- If there’s ever anything you don’t get, or if anything goes wrong, that’s my responsibility. As a teacher, it’s my job to explain things clearly, in a way that makes sense to you.
- The goal in my lessons is make you as independent as possible and to make myself obsolete. I’ll teach you how to learn to play songs yourself and grow as a musician. That’s why I like to start as soon as possible with learning songs by ear (which isn’t as hard as you might think).
- I work by appointment. So it’s up to you whether you want to come by every week or you just want some pointers every couple of months.
- We’ll work on music that gets you excited, whether that’s Jimi Hendrix, U2, Muse or Beyoncé. No matter how much you like music, if you’re playing stuff you don’t really like, things can get really boring really fast…
- I play pop and jazz music in the broadest sense of the terms. But if you’re looking for a classical guitar teacher, I’m not who you’re looking for.
So, who am I? In short: my name is Freek, but seeing as it reads a little awkward in English, I go by my middle name on this site: Just. I graduated a little under two years ago at the conservatory in Utrecht. I then moved to Rotterdam where I teach in Delfshaven. I play in a couple of projects such as the indie-jazz band Startas Orkester and the oddball indie-rock band Exit Bloom. I also write and perform music for theater with Matig Wonder. If you want to know more about me, feel free to check out my ‘about’ page.
You can also take a look around this site. Every month, a couple thousand visitors from all over the world browse the site to become a better musician.
